1. Product Overview
FLN4234A is a compact 3U VME communication slave module developed by Motorola for expanding high-density network and serial interfaces on VME embedded control platforms. It cannot run independently and must be installed in the same VME chassis and managed by MVME master single board computers via the backplane bus.
The board integrates four independent 10/100Mbps Ethernet controllers and eight software-switchable multi-mode serial transceivers, each communication channel equipped with dedicated hardware FIFO transmit/receive buffers to reduce main CPU interrupt load and improve continuous data transmission stability. Built-in professional EMI attenuation filtering circuit suppresses industrial electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable signal transmission in dense multi-card VME cabinets.
All external ports adopt complete ESD and surge protection, supporting TCP/IP industrial Ethernet protocols and standard serial fieldbus communication. The module uses passive aluminum heat sink heat dissipation design, no fan structure reduces mechanical failure risk, and supports wide industrial temperature range operation. It is widely matched with MVME162, MVME172, MVME5100 and MVME5500 main control boards to build multi-channel communication architecture for thermal power DCS, petrochemical distributed control, aerospace automatic test equipment and railway signal interlock systems.
This product has been discontinued by Motorola and is only available as refurbished or surplus spare parts for legacy industrial control systems.
